What are the age requirements to compete in the 2026 Alabama Senior Olympics?
All athletes must be 50 years old by December 31, 2026. Athlete’s competition age will be based on his/her age on December 31, 2026
Participants will compete in one of the following age categories for both individual and/or doubles sports: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74,75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99. Team sports are divided into the following brackets: 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+, and 80+. Your age group is determined by your age on December 31, 2026.
Partner and team age groups will be determined by the age of the youngest partner/team member.
What if I want to register for a doubles event, but I don’t have a partner?
Click on Partner Finder, go to the link and enter your information and look for those seeking partners.
Both players must be registered for the Alabama Senior Olympics event in order to be matched as a team. The age division is based on the youngest player on the team.
Where do I check in for my events?
Check-in for all events is at the event venue. Check individual sports page to find the days, times, venues, and addresses of all events.
Where & when do I pick up my t-shirt?
T-shirt pick-up will be at the events during check-in. Only 1 t-shirt per athlete, even though you may be in a multitude of events/sports.
Will events be rescheduled or relocated due to inclement weather?
The Alabama Senior Olympics reserves the right to cancel, postpone reschedule any event due to weather, or events beyond their control. In the event of a venue change or event cancellation, the information will be posted online. Every effort will be made to contact entrants prior to the start of the Games.
How many athletes are competing in my event in my age group?
With the number of athletes competing in over 20 events, we are unable to list all athletes in each event. When possible a participant list will be provided a few days prior to the competing on the individual sports page.
How many Sports and/or Events may I enter?
As long as events are not held at conflicting times, you may enter as many sports as you desire. There are limitations on how many events you can participate within archery, swimming and tennis (See sports page). Scheduling cannot be done to accommodate other events or sports.
Will I be required to provide my own equipment?
Participants are required to provide their own equipment, except as specified per their sport.
Where can I find official rules for the sport(s) in which I am competing?
All rules for the competitive events are set by the National Senior Games Association. Visit the NSGA website for specifics.
How can I qualify for Nationals?
The 2026 Alabama Senior Olympics are qualifier for the 2027 National Games in Tulsa, Oklahoma. To find more info about the National Games, visit the NSGA website.
When will the results be posted online?
We expect all results to be posted within 2 weeks of an event online.

Do I have to qualify to play in the Alabama Senior Olympics
No, you do not. Anyone who will be 50 during the year of the competition is welcome to participate in the games.
If I am not a resident of Alabama, can I still play in the Alabama Senior Olympics?
Yes, Alabama is an OPEN State, you don’t have to live in Alabama to participate in the Alabama Senior Olympics.
What is your refund policy?
Refunds will be granted up to 2 weeks before the event minus a $10 administrative fee.
How do I qualify for the 2027 National Senior Games?
- Be at least 50 years of age by December 31 of 2026.
- Meet the qualification standards for your sport at a Qualifying State Senior Games that is sanctioned by NSGA. Qualifying standards for each sport will be outlined on the sport profiles in a qualifying year.
- Participate in a NSGA-sanctioned State Qualifying Games in a qualifying year.
- Qualify through the state you live in or any state that allows out-of-state competitors in a qualifying year.
