Meet the dedicated board members guiding the Alabama Senior Olympics.

Alli McGill Ammons
Alli McGill Ammons began her distinguished career as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, founding the Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at UAB Hospital. She later transitioned to an exciting career in multisport events, where she has worked on major events including the Olympics, The World Games, The Transplant Games, and The World Police & Fire Games.
She recently enhanced her skills by adding an EMT certification. Alli is particularly passionate about the Alabama Senior Olympics, where she serves both as a board member and an athlete. She has volunteered, participated, and medaled in two National Senior Games and is looking forward to the National Senior Games returning to Birmingham in 2029.

Melanie Coultas
Melanie Coultas works at The Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering as an Internship Field Supervisor. She’s also a High School Swim Coach, High School Archery Coach, ASO athlete and NSGA Swimmer.

Dan Hendricks
Dan Hendricks is retired from Higher Education administration. He served as Vice President or Vice Chancellor of four American Universities. He also served as President of the Alabama State Parks Foundation.
Having competed in four National Senior Olympics Campionships, he earned a Bronze Medal in swimming at the Pittsburgh games. He holds a PhD from Duke University. He is married to Barbara Beal Hendricks.

Phil Holmes
Phil Holmes is the Executive Director for the Governor’s Commission on Physical Fitness and Sports. He is a graduate of Samford University and began his career in health and wellness at St. Vincent’s Health System where he served as Wellness and Sports Medicine Coordinator. He currently serves on the Masters Games and the Alabama Senior Games Boards.
Phil is passionate about the fitness, health and wellness for all Alabamians, and loves working with schools and communities across the state to help provide opportunities to improve access to sports and fitness for all ages. Phil and his wife Libby have three children, and are active members at Faith Presbyterian Church.

Phil Jones
Phil Jones has spent over 25 years board member and Cycling race director/official. He is retired from a career in financial services and legal services.

Dee Nance
Originally from New Jersey, Dee graduated from East Carolina University in Greenville North Carolina and made her way to Alabama. As a Certified Recreation Therapist, she developed and implemented programs for individuals with disabilities. She worked in rehabilitation and psych before spending 30 years with the City of Hoover in Community Recreation. Her experience with Alabama Senior Olympics started in 1992 and continued off and on through the years until she retired in 2022. She then joined the ASO Board of Directors and currently serves as President.

Deanna Pack
Deanna Pack has served as Program Coordinator for the Governor’s Commission on Physical Fitness and Sports since 2017. In this role, she leads statewide initiatives that promote health, wellness, and physical activity across Alabama.
Deanna also serves as the State Coordinator for the Alabama Senior Olympics, where she oversees events that encourage active lifestyles and friendly competition among adults aged 50 and older. Through her work with the Commission, she collaborates with numerous programs and organizations, including the Masters Games of Alabama, Alabama State Games, Pro-Instruct, and the State of Alabama Employee Walk Days, among many others.

Anthony Terling
Anthony Terling, STS, CHSP, is currently the Sports Development Director for Auburn-Opelika Tourism. Terling has been in the sports industry since graduating from Auburn University Montgomery in 2009 with an undergraduate degree in Sports Management, later going on to earn his master’s in the same field.
Before joining Auburn-Opelika Tourism in 2018, Terling served as vice president of external affairs for the Alabama Sports Festival Foundation (ASF Foundation), a non-profit organization responsible for producing the Alabama State Games and worked for the Tampa Bay Rays and their AA minor league affiliate. He is also SafeSport Certified through the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
Anthony values family time and being a great husband to Lindsey and father to his two sons. Other interests include, watching any and all sports in person or on TV (Penguins hockey is the best!), attending Auburn University athletic events, outdoor recreation, and lover all things landscape. Charitable work and helping others in need is a passion for Anthony, as he and his wife co-founded a non-profit public charity (Austin 1st Foundation) that raises awareness and research funding for rare diseases.

Tonia Whatley
Tonia Whatley serves as Director of Sports Business Development for the Greater Birmingham CVB, bringing 30+ years of results-driven leadership in the sports industry. She specializes in sports business development, event management, partnerships, and market expansion, with a strong record of securing major events and driving economic impact. Tonia is also a champion for legacy programs, destination stewardship, community integration, and advancing equity and inclusion in sports.

Treba Young
Treba Young is a retired educator administrator.
God, family and staying active are important to me. Each year, I plan to participate in a new event at the state and national level accordingly.
