SPORT RULES
1. All matches will be conducted in accordance with USA Volleyball rules, except as modified herein. For a copy of these rules, please visit the website at www.usavolleyball.org or contact: USA Volleyball, 4065 Sinton Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80910, (719) 228-6800.
2. A team must have at least five players present to start a game; otherwise, the game is forfeited. Teams will be allowed a five-minute grace period to assemble a minimum of five players. The sixth player may enter upon arrival. In the event of injury, a team may continue/finish with a minimum of four players on the floor.
3. Teams competing with only five players shall always have three players on the front row. No service rotation penalty shall be assessed for not having six players.
4. Two Libero’s are permitted and may be changed from set to set and not have to be designated for their match.
5. Team roster shall be limited to 15 persons, including non-playing coaches, non-playing captains, and non-playing bench personnel.
6. All registration and team rules apply to non-playing coaches, non-playing captains and non-playing bench personnel.
7. Volleyball will be divided into the following age divisions for both men and women: 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+.
ENTRY REGULATIONS
1. Anyone age 50+ by December 31, 2026.
2. Age divisions for all team competition will be determined by the age of the youngest team member as of December 31, 2026.
3. Teams must be of all one gender.
ASO MEDALS
Awards will be presented for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place for each style within each age division.
NSGA QUALIFYING
All first, second and third place winners at a 2026 NSGA qualifying games will qualify for the 2027 National Senior Games.
DOUBLE MEDALING/QUALIFYING
The Alabama Senior Olympics (ASO) is an open state and welcomes out-of-state participants. Out-of-state athletes are eligible to medal and to qualify for the National Senior Games; however, they do not take a qualifying position or medal away from an Alabama resident.
If an out-of-state participant places in the top three of their division, they will receive the medal earned and any qualifying position in accordance with NSGA rules for each sport. The ASO will then award medals to the top three Alabama athletes and qualify Alabama residents according to NSGA qualifying rules for each sport (see Rule H).
